Greetings, my friends!

A belated Merry Christmas, a belated Happy New Year — and an early Happy Valentine's Day to make up for it. Hope you had (or are still having… lucky you) a fantastic holiday break. I took a quick vay-kay up the coast in Byron Bay and, if Australia remembered to bring the sunshine across December, I totally would have given my pasty white skin a tan. Well, sunburn at least.

Beautiful You goes #1!

Apparently Santa thought I was a good boy this year. (I know, right? Weird.) The Beautiful You music video made its TV debut on MAX the day before Christmas, and has since danced between position #1 and #2 in their top 10 most requested songs. Super excited and thankful for your votes! You can help keep Beautiful You at #1 by requesting it here.

Sorry I've been a little distant lately. It's not you, it's me… :) Ha, been super busy over the past couple of months but going well. Hope you are too. Still getting such a buzz from new listeners who are discovering Sooner Or Later — thanks again for checking out my tunes and sharing them round!

One Together, live!

My good pal, NYC singer/songwriter David Raleigh has just returned to Sydney! We're playing a show this Sunday night (October 2) called One Together at Notes in Enmore as part of the Sydney Fringe. It'll be a stellar night where we'll bust out a stack of our own tunes, and possibly a couple of each other's… secure your tickets now.

So... don't get too jealous, but I'm on holidays from next Thursday! Paris, Rome and London. Yee-ha! You can keep up to date with all my touristy activites via Twitter.

Hi kids!

Hope things are well for you in the land of the interwebs… full of smiley emoticons, well-liked status updates and all that. :) I ran a Facebook poll a couple of months ago asking the question: "If I was to make a music video, which song from Sooner Or Later would you most like to see?" The resounding winner out of 7 possible choices was Who The Hell I Am . Well… er… turns out it was a trick question. 'WTHIA' definitely needs its own vid, and I'm sure it'll happen soon, but one such option not on the list was my simple lil' ballad Beautiful You. After a bit of research and comments from some industry-pro-type-people, it seems to be the right pick for single number 1 from Sooner Or Later.

Behind the video.

So, how does one go about making a music video? Simple really. Take one upright piano, place it in a stunning location, hit play on the track, then roll cameras. Okay, there was a little more to it than that… and I have writer/director Josef J Weber to thank for pulling a fantastic team together, doing the hard yards and making it all happen. It's still in post-production and shouldn't be too long before it's released, but in the meantime you can check out a few behind the scenes photos on Josef J Weber's blog.

Back to the Big Apple.

New Yorkers! I miss you! Good thing I'm heading over for couple of shows this weekend to add to your summer soundtrack. Joined by my good mate and fellow singer/songwriter David Raleigh, we'll be playing the hipster-friendly Rockwood Music Hall this Friday 15 from 8:30pm. Entry is free, RSVP on Facebook. For the more cocktail-minded, you're invited to join us at the fabulous Duane Park this Sunday 17 from 8pm. Both David and I will be performing songs from our albums, each with our own band. Hey howdy hey!

(Excuse my Toy Story 2 reference.) Hope you had a great weekend and got up to all sorts of mischief. Just brewed my afternoon coffee, so I thought I'd take a sec to sit down and keep you in the loop with my latest happenings...

Had the most extraordinary day yesterday. I jammed with some of my favourite Sydney musos in preparation for my show at The Vanguard this Wednesday June 1 and, like a good chicken soup, it did wonders for the soul… If you're in this fine city, I'd love to be able to perform these songs for you with my extremely talented band, along with an opening set by my good mate mcArtney.

Back to A-town.

It's been a very long time since I've performed in my hometown of Adelaide, so already I'm getting a bit emotional about this little show! (Note to self, remember Kleenex.) I'm supported by the superb Rachel Cearns, and we're giving you an intimate stripped back set at The Promethean next Wednesday June 8 at 8pm. Shake off the winter blues and join us, we can promise you a great evening of moving music. (You can even borrow one of my Kleenex if you need to.) Tickets $15 at the door.

My one month anniversary.

Why hello there. Hope all has been well in your world! Gearing up for a fun night tonight… seeing Sarah Bareilles and Maroon 5 at Sydney's Acer Arena. Two of my faves! Also excited that today marks one month since my pride and joy Sooner Or Later has been allowed out of the house, and it's having its very first listens. Online radio site Jango has played my songs 54379 times (and counting), and the comments so far have been super touching. Don't mean to toot my own horn, but… beep beep… here's a few of them.

A couple of Aussie shows coming up in the next few weeks. You have no idea how much I'm loving playing these songs live! I'm joined with a full band at one of my favourite venues in the world on June 1, Sydney's The Vanguard, along with tunes from my good mate mcArtney. Tickets on sale now. I'm also performing an intimate solo show in Adelaide on June 8 at the gorgeous Promethean , along with the equally gorgeous Rachel Cearns. Hey there! Hope all's well. I'm writing you this email on board QF107… right now I should be sleeping and getting adjusted to the US time zone. But I can't. I'm so excited. And I just can't hide it. For those who missed the memo, I'm playing at NYC's iconic live music venue Joe's Pub on Sunday evening at 7:30. Grab your last minute tix here. If you can't make it, here's the next best thing — you'll actually be able to stream the show live at http://www.livestream.com/joespub! (That's Monday morning for you Aussies.)

Sooner Or Later. Yup, that's the name of the album, named after one of the album tracks… and to quote my own lyrics, 'later will be here soon'. As soon as a few days, in fact. My pride and joy hits iTunes this Wednesday April 6 — which also just happens to be my 30th birthday! I honestly think this record sums up my thirty years on this planet, so I'm stoked that I've been able to get everything done by this self-imposed deadline. And for those who still like their physical albums, you're gonna love this… Sooner Or Later will be available from Amazon later this month in a deluxe 8 panel fold-out digipack, complete with a 24 page photo and lyric booklet. Posh.

A heads up for a few dates ahead… my official Aussie CD launch will be happening at the ultra cool Slide on Oxford St in Sydney on Thursday April 14, and tickets are available from Ticketek now. (Go the 3 course dinner + show if you can, the food is amaaaazing.) Other dates to earmark are June 1 for Sydney and June 8 for Adelaide, with more to be announced soon! Hopefully catch you round the traps in the near future… but be warned, I won't be in my twenties anymore, so you'll have to talk clearly and slowly. ;)

A look back at 2011

Hey there!

Well, we're only in January, but 2011 has already been a big year... especially for some. As you've probably heard, there have been some devastating floods throughout Queensland and other parts of Australia. A few good friends of mine on this email list have been adversely affected, please know that our thoughts are with you. (Donations can be made here.)

Cranked to 11...

Last week I returned to Sydney after a few weeks off, and have now started a new job as the promo voice for Australia's new free-to-air TV channel, Eleven. It was launched last week on 11/1/11 at 11am, and it's a ridiculously fun gig so far! Aussies can tune in on (wait for it) channel 11, or you can get a little taste right here.

Oh, and the album.

Ha. Believe me, it's far from an afterthought. Over the Christmas break I received all of my final mixes back from the US, and now it's crunch time! The track order was decided over the weekend, and the album is currently being sent off for mastering by industry legend Vic Anesini (he has a pretty nifty discography). Crazy excited, and itching to give you a listen...

Ok, that's the latest! Here's to a great year ahead, keep safe.
